轮椅上的“翻译家”历经十几载出书

中国的压缩机生产制造在出口贸易中占重要地位，可如何将产品推介到国际，一直让一些翻译人员为难，因为这个专业领域缺乏工具书。最近，一名蚌埠人出版了一本英汉对照版的压缩机词汇工具书，全书搜罗了和压缩机有关的2万多个英文词汇，填补了国内压缩机英汉工具书的空白。

看着手中的这本《英汉汉英压缩机技术词汇》，徐海燕有着前所未有的满足感，因为这本书里有他三十年的工作积累。从决定出版一本关于压缩机的英汉专业词汇书籍那天起，徐海燕足足准备了十几年，书中65万字，字字是多年的心血。

今年51岁的徐海燕，自幼双腿残疾，尽管1980年时，高考考出了高分，但却被大学拒之门外。但徐海燕一直没有放弃学习，仍然每天自学英语到深夜。1983年，徐海燕进入我市科技情报所，开始了他的职业翻译生涯。

在压缩机行业里很多人对徐海燕的评价是，学英语里最懂压缩机的，懂压缩机里英语学的最好的。从业三十年来，徐海燕为近百台压缩机的出口说明做了翻译，此类技术资料的译文达到近百万字，本地大部分压缩机出口企业都直接请他帮忙翻译。

现在，说起压缩机，徐海燕可以中英文无障碍切换，非常流利。其实，刚入行工作时，他也有些懵，也出过错，因为没有专业的工具书，很多词汇不知道到底用的对不对。那时，他只有查阅专业期刊，走到生产一线，向专业技术工人们逐字逐句的请教、核实。经过几十年的摸索、比较、核对、纠正，才有今天的成绩。

在外行人看来这本书太冷门，可是机械工业出版社刚一出版，这本书就被京东商城、亚马逊网等各大网购平台放到了货架上。对工具书的迫切需求，徐海燕深有体会，“有些外语学的很好的人，因为没有压缩机的专业知识，所以一旦涉及这个领域的翻译就很难，但如果有一本工具书，入门就会简单很多。”徐海燕说，正是因为自己吃过这些苦头，所以特别想把几十年以来的心血凝结成册，既是填补整个领域的空白，也是为自己的人生留下一些有意义的东西。

虽然是自学成才，但徐海燕的英文水平获得了广泛认可，勤奋努力不会辜负任何人。凤阳小岗村“大包干”纪念馆内，所有中文简介的英文对照版均是由徐海燕翻译，我市好几个行政区的宣传片英文对照也是他翻译。在英文翻译领域的成功，让徐海燕更加坚定，人活着必须有理想，有坚持，有韧劲。他也同时为社会提供了一个自强不息的榜样。
