“中山”应该点翻译至啱？“Zhongshan”系正解

近日，中山市民白先生发现，他收到的名片对“中山”的英文翻译可谓“多种多样”，出现了五六种不同的译法。其中“Zhongshan”与“Zhong Shan”是最常见的两种。

记者从市外事侨务局获悉，中山市的正确译法应为“Zhongshan”或者“Zhongshan City”。

　　一个“中山”出现五六种译法

中山市的标准英文译法到底是什么？近日，市民白先生致电记者表达了其困惑。其告诉记者，由于工作的关系，接收到很多名片，其中有不少名片还标注上了英文。不过细心的他却发现，光中山市的译法就有好几种。“我自己就看到了四种，分别为‘Zhongshan’、‘ZhongShan’、‘Zhong shan’还有‘Zhong Shan’，到底是哪一种译法正确让人困惑。”白先生称，虽然很多人都能看得懂意思，但如果与外宾交流时能规范些就更好了。

按照白先生的提示，记者发现自己收到的名片上也出现了多种译法。其中最常见的为“Zhongshan”与“Zhong Shan”两种，而白先生所说的四种译法的差别分别在有无空格和“山”字的首字母是否大写上。除了上述四种，还有一些名片在上述几种译法后加上了“City”一词。

记者登录中山市政府网站与市外事侨务局网站发现，两个网站的译法均为“Zhongshan”。

　　权威解释：只有两种是规范的

市外事侨务局礼宾科工作人员表示，按照规范书写，中山市的翻译法应为“Zhongshan”或者“Zhongshan City”。“Zhong和shan之间没有间隔，且Zhong首字母大写。不过也可视场合在后面加上‘City’这个词。”

　　译成“Sun Yat-sen City”得唔得？

除了译成“Zhongshan City”外，白先生还提出，是否能参照中山大学的英文译法译成“Sun Yat-sen City”呢？白先生认为，“中山市此前为中山县，是为纪念孙中山先生而将原名香山县改称，可否将中山市译成‘Sun Yat-sen City’呢？这样显得洋气很多呀！”

对此，市外事侨务局礼宾科回应称，目前中山市的官方译法仍为“Zhongshan”，还没有接到译成“Sun Yat-sen City”的文件或者建议。
