翻译是中国文化推介“瓶颈”

新华社伦敦4月15日专电(记者白旭　冯千)为期3天的伦敦书展15日在伦敦伯爵宫展览中心开幕,来自60个国家的出版商参展,书展期间将举行约250场论坛,供读者、展商和作家相互交流探讨。参展国家中,亚美尼亚、格鲁吉亚和克罗地亚三国今年是首次参展。参展的中国出版社包括中国国际出版集团、江苏凤凰出版传媒集团和中国出版集团公司等。去年伦敦书展的主宾国是中国,今年是土耳其。

参加15日开幕的英国伦敦书展的中国外文局常务副局长郭晓勇说,面对国外读者对中国图书不断增长的需求,翻译是最大挑战。“随着中国国家地位的提高,中国文化越来越受到关注,国外对中国图书的需求也在增加,”他在新华社记者采访时说。不过,中国文化推介,翻译始终是瓶颈。

“去年中国著名作家莫言获得诺贝尔文学奖再次证明了翻译非常重要,”他说,“我们一直缺少优秀的翻译人才,因此有些书虽然好,我们却无法把作品的精髓传递给国外读者。”

郭晓勇也是中国国际出版集团常务副总裁。今年该集团带来了700多种图书,其中85%是外文图书,题材包括当代中国、中国文学、汉语教学、中医药以及少儿读物和工具书。他说,其中当代中国题材的图书最受关注。国际社会非常关心中国当代社会的发展变化。比如,前年推出的英文版《历史的轨迹:中国共产党为什么能?》,“用摆事实的方式讲历史,非常受欢迎,”他说。此外,中国传统文化和汉语教学方面的图书也比较受关注。

伦敦书展始于1971年,每年一届,是仅次于德国法兰克福书展的世界第二大国际图书版权交易会。今年书展从15日到17日在伯爵宫展览中心进行,来自60个国家和地区的出版商参加。

中国是去年伦敦书展的主宾国。今年参加书展的中国出版商还包括江苏凤凰出版传媒集团和中国出版集团公司等多家,15日书展首日就进行了不少版权交易和新书发布。
