嗯嗯，若是问 Learn XX the Hard Way，则若少林长拳，平淡无奇，枯燥无味。二逼青年，但求速成，非Core XX、XX In A Nutshell 不看；文艺青年，或求生动，非 Head First XX、XX for Dummies 不览。只有那热爱和平与字体的普通青年们，看着岁月静好，来日方长，才能下得狠心、发得宏愿，先不去管什么设计模式踢滴滴，敏捷编程中间件，只想认认真真静下心来，把基本功打好，一个字一个字地敲代码，不去看窗外飞过的，到底是欧洲燕，还是非洲燕。这就叫 learn Python the hard way。这不是自虐吗？这就是自虐呀，跟扎马步一个道理，谁叫自虐得到的印象最深，对基本功提升最有帮助？所以要我说，这书就该叫《自虐学 Python》。

之前几位同学已经通过不同方面的回答，想必在「The hard way」所包含的「艰苦、艰辛、艰难」之意方面已达成共识，唯一需要着重讨论的是中文如何表达，并且还得恰当合适地印在书的封面上，既信达雅地贴合原意，又能让无英文背景的中文读者一望便得其义，不费脑力，不生歧思。

以前上初中，有个班主任经常教导我们这波不懂事闹翻天的小屁孩，待人接物不要那么「冲」【我们当地的方言，大意是鲁莽、无礼、愣头青之类的】，不然以后出去社会上不知天高地厚，闯得头破血流才知道现实的厉害。这大概就是所谓的 learn X the hard way 的意思吧。
