哪些品牌名/学派名原本非常巧妙有内涵，翻译后丧失了原来的味道？

puma的名字和Logo都给人一种矫健猎豹的感觉，译成彪马让我老是想起“长满肥膘的马”。

Mont Blanc，本意是欧洲最高峰勃朗峰（白朗峰），翻成“万宝龙”，土财主的味道跃然纸上。Mont Blanc Meisterstück系列中的“Meisterstück”相当于英文中的“Masterpiece”（杰作），结果用了香港的翻译“万宝龙大班”，还幼儿园小班呢。

当然我也同意潘欣在评论中说的，从营销角度讲，这个翻译也许实际效果很好。不过这和题目问的不在一个层面了。

关于国外品牌的中译名的问题，大概有几点可以解说的：
1、中译名是注册公司用，其实是公司品牌，不是产品品牌。对于产品品牌，他们通常只有原有的英文品牌，这通常见于奢侈品牌。真正知名的流行时尚品牌也大多如此。

2、中译名主要是为了媒体传播使用，通常是中英并列使用。但如果到店内，通常只有英文品牌。这主要是通过媒体传播让中英名称划上等号，并将英文品牌名称驻留在用户心智中。这也通常见于时尚的服装品牌和奢侈品牌。

3、很多国外电器品牌是中英并用的，而且中文品牌使用频率很高。我理解是因为这些品牌面向更广泛的家庭用户，消费者未必懂英文，所以保留中文的必要性就很强了。

4、品牌的英译中，更多见于音译。这其实也是为了便于中英品牌之间的联想，帮助用户记忆。

5、音译的好坏，其实是个见仁见智的问题。品牌是客户化的，译名也是如此。这和用户本身的受教育程度、所处社会阶层、环境等等都很有关系。基本没办法做到大家都说好。只能说，他们会根据他们所了解的中国社会人群划分，去捕捉到最大范围用户群所易于接受的译名方式。而且，国外品牌进入中国有一个惯性，他们特渴望本土化，所以译名“土”一点是符合他们的商业思维方式的。

6、有些品牌译名的变化。比如LEXUS原来是凌志、现在是雷克萨斯；CARMY原来是佳美，现在是凯美瑞。原因有三：一是原来其实是非常规渠道的销售，基本无需注册商标等。现在人家正式进入中国，甚至合资，品牌译名发生了变化；二是一的延伸，因为涉及到商标注册等，会发现原来的好译名都被抢注了，不改不行；三是原来的品牌曾经发生过危机，为了消除负面影响，在中译名上玩个小花样，淡化了消极因素。
