《灿烂的中国文明》网站英文版翻译工作启动

 

由香港中国文化研究院主办的大型文化网站《灿烂的中国文明》增设英文版，英文版翻译工作正式启动。

7月9日，中国文化研究院和中国外文局在北京举行合作签约仪式，网站英文版的翻译工作由中国外文局组织一流专家完成。中国文化研究院理事长李业广出席签约仪式，中国文化研究院执行院长胡从经
和中国外文局副局长兼总编辑黄友义分别在协议上签字。

根据协议，第一阶段的翻译工作涉及150个专题，约500万字，需时三年，网站英文版在今年年底前陆续上线，届时可向英语世界提供一个深入了解中国文化的新平台。这项文化工程得到国家有关领导的
关心与重视。香港李兆基博士和李兆基基金会是这项文化工程的资助人。

中国外文局副局长兼总编辑黄友义在签约仪式结束后就此次合作接受中国网记者的采访。

黄友义说：“这项合作把中国文化分门别类，比较适合国外读者阅读，特别是适合外国人了解中国的文化和历史。”他表示，让世界上更多的英文读者了解中国，不止要了解中国经济，更要了解中国人
的思维，而这种思维存在于中国深远的文化背景中。这项合作能够帮助更多的外国人了解字面之后的中国，潜在影响力非常大。

黄友义介绍说，中国外文局和中国翻译协会有一大批有经验的翻译工作者，我们将要组织一个团队，与香港方面共同打造一个阅读平台。香港文化研究院的中文编写能力，中国外文局的对外翻译能力，
以及双方对中国文化传播使命的认可，是这一重要文化项目合作的基础。

据了解，中国文化研究院由饶宗颐教授、李业广律师、方心让教授、胡从经教授等发起，于1999年在香港注册成立。首任名誉院长汪道涵先生亲笔题写院名。现任名誉院长为许嘉璐先生。董建华先
生从创院以来一直担任该院的督导委员会主席。梁振英先生自创院以来一直担任特别顾问，自2012年9月起，亦担任该院督导委员会主席。
中国文化研究院创办的大型文化类网站《灿烂的中国文明》自2000年开通以来，覆盖面遍及全球130多个国家和地区，是海外读者学习和了解中国文化的重要窗口。网站曾荣获联合国颁予的“世界最佳文
化网站”大奖。该网站还多次荣获香港、内地、海外各种奖项，并被中央十二部委主办的“寻找美丽的中华”社会教育活动（2007~2009）确定为推广中国文化知识的电子平台，为中央文明办的官方网站
的《中国文明网》全面移植、推广。

《灿烂的中国文明》网站中文版第一期工程由香港特区政府优质教育基金资助，第二期工程由澳门特区政府澳门基金会资助。中文版目前有200多个专题，每个专题都约请海内外该领域最权威的专家和学
者撰稿，以保证传播中国文化的准确性。中文版的内容正在不断拓展与丰富，近期内将达到300个专题。网站英文版的翻译工作由国家外文局组织一流英文专家完成，使译文达到 “信、达、雅”，保证
跨文化传播的准确性及有效性。
