顾彬：莫言小说冗长无趣 他能获奖翻译居功至伟

南都讯 记者陈晓勤 实习生 李佳贞发自香港　5月2日，香港岭南大学中文系举办“五四现代文学讲座”，陈思和、顾彬、许子东、刘剑梅、王晓明、梅家玲和钟玲共六位学者齐聚一堂，发表专题演说。李欧梵、刘绍铭、陈清侨等学者参加圆桌论坛。

当天下午的讲座几乎成为莫言研究的专场。陈思和回顾了莫言领取诺贝尔奖时的演讲稿，解读莫言文学的理想倾向。刘再复因身体原因没能出席，他的女儿、马里兰大学副教授刘剑梅代他宣读了关于“莫言高行健比较论”的研究论文，刘再复称赞莫言是拥有大气魄的讲故事天才。而来自德国的汉学家顾彬则从欧洲古典文学的立场出发，对以莫言为代表的中国当代文学提出质疑。

　　陈思和：莫言的文学理想来自于生命

作为莫言参评诺奖的推荐人之一，陈思和去年12月陪同莫言一同赴瑞典领奖。陈思和从莫言在诺奖颁奖仪式上的演讲受到启发，“莫言的演讲让我们理解莫言文学的理想倾向是来自于生命血缘和生命本能，以及独特的民间性。”他说，莫言的很多作品，如《丰乳肥臀》、《四十一炮》、等，均展现了中国农民的真实形象，并通过对人性的深刻描写来认识人性。

除民间立场、乡土题材，本次讲座的组织者许子东强调莫言小说中叙事的现代性，“用欧化的书面语写乡土。”所谓欧化的方式是指现代主义手法，“上世纪80年代的那批作家，相当程度受到袁可嘉等人翻译写作的影响，形成了所谓现代主义手法。现代主义手法初露锋芒是在上世纪九叶派与张爱玲，80年代再次回到大陆。”

　　顾彬：莫言获奖翻译居功至伟

顾彬的发言强调了翻译对莫言获诺奖的助力。他说，在中国当代主力作家群中，莫言是作品被译介到海外最多的小说作家，其次是余华和苏童。“葛浩文对莫言获得诺贝尔奖有很大的贡献，他创造了‘国外的莫言’”。顾彬认为莫言的长篇小说冗长、无趣，而葛浩文对莫言“有所流失”的翻译正好避免了这一毛病。

“除了翻译莫言的作品，葛浩文还在西方世界里到处推荐莫言。”顾彬说。葛浩文最后把莫言的作品摆上了诺贝尔文学奖评委马悦然的案头上。许子东证实了顾彬谈“葛浩文到处推荐莫言”一说，另外他认为，“受现代主义翻译的影响，莫言作品容易被翻译成英文、法文，也比较容易被国际阅读。这类易于翻译的文体必然在诺奖遴选中得益。”许子东说，“另外，陈安娜用章回体翻译《生死疲劳》，是获奖的关键。”
