黄荭：轻翻译，外国文学研究何去何从

黄荭简介

法国巴黎三大文学博士，南京大学文学博士，南京大学法语系教授，国际杜拉斯学会会员，翻译《小王子》等法语作品20余种。

近日，“梁宗岱译坛”在广东外语外贸大学正式成立，第一讲请来了法语译者黄荭。她的名字公众并不耳熟能详，但她用优美中文转述的小王子、杜拉斯，却一直热度不减。

　　对《小王子》一见钟情

　　虽然大多数人只知道“小王子”，但在黄荭的翻译生涯中，主编《圣埃克絮佩里作品》全集更是一件绕不开的事。2002年，黄荭答应楚尘翻译《小王子》以及主持全集的翻译工作，组织如此庞大的译作工程让她在之后三年都时不时会感觉力不从心。“翻译《小王子》是很个人的事，但在全集的翻译中，却必须去和多名译者、出版社沟通协调，这就不再是个人行为”。

　　圣埃克絮佩里的作品，尤其是《小王子》的中译本不下二三十种，其中不乏马振骋版那样优秀的译作，选择复译，也就意味着选择接受挑战。黄荭说，即便是成熟的译者，碰到自己喜欢的作品也还是会冲动，希望跟这个文本有一段情缘，“这是译者的力比多”。对黄荭而言，翻译《小王子》，是了却她个人有些孩子气的一桩心事，是跟过去的自己以及一位作家道别，“我希望在暗夜里，可以用自己的声音把这个故事再说一遍，说给自己听。”

　　黄荭认为，我们对圣埃克絮佩里的了解十分不够，阅读和研究只偏重在《小王子》，不仅中国这样，法国也如此。专门将圣埃克絮佩里作为研究题目的并不多，或许是《小王子》的名声，让圣埃克絮佩里的另外一面被遮蔽掉了，而那可能是更为重要的部分。

　　此外，黄荭还特别指出，很多经典作品在复译过程中有了新生命。但是，有些出版商或译者出于追求某种商业利益，宣扬自己做出的是最好的译本，其他译本都错误百出，这种态度特别危险，也要不得。

　　一路上有杜拉斯

　　黄荭总喜欢把翻译比作爱情，她说自己对《小王子》是“一见钟情”，对杜拉斯则是“日久生情”。“遇到一本心仪的书，就跟遇到心仪的人一样，让你情不自禁、满心欢喜。但也有些翻译作品，一开始是老师或同事介绍的，或是出版社找上门的，这就像父母之命媒妁之言，一开始不见得能对上眼，但朝夕相处下来，慢慢才体会到其中的好，才开始有了依恋，比如杜拉斯。”

　　1997年暑假，黄荭大四毕业，法语译者许钧推荐她翻译漓江出版社“杜拉斯小丛书”的其中一种，那是她第一次从翻译角度接触杜拉斯的文本，没想到，这次翻译竟让黄荭和杜拉斯结下了解不开的缘分。《外面的世界2》是杜拉斯写给报纸杂志的文集，内容芜杂，文字的愉悦被整个繁复的资料查证过程冲淡了，这并不是让她眼前一亮的作品。南京的夏天无比闷热，黄荭只觉得翻译很难，不免焦躁。

　　然而，因为翻译这本书，黄荭阅读了杜拉斯很多作品，了解了她的生平和创作风格，译完后，感觉自己对杜拉斯熟悉了。“可以说杜拉斯给我打开了一扇很大的门或窗，她的领域特别宽，一会儿谈戏剧，一会儿谈电影，一会儿谈政治，一会儿谈音乐……她给了我想要的触角，经由她我可以接触到各个领域，以及那里面不同的人，是因为熟悉才爱上了她，以至于硕士论文、博士论文都选择了杜拉斯。”

　　如今，黄荭已然成为杜拉斯研究专家，不仅翻译了杜拉斯的作品，也翻译了其研究著作《解读杜拉斯》，不仅是国际杜拉斯学会会员，也主持着一个国家社科项目“理解与误读：‘杜拉斯神话’的窥破”。用黄荭的话来说，这辈子是和杜拉斯分不开了。

　　无事花草 闲来翻书

　　“闲来翻书”是黄荭对待翻译的态度。在一个求快的消费时代，读书、翻译、做学问却需要真正静下心来，花“闲工夫”慢慢做。在今天，文学翻译对译者而言，多半是个吃力不讨好的寂寞苦差。对于高校这样的教学科研单位而言，翻译不算科研成果，长期没得到应有的重视。对于业余译者来说，翻译工作不仅强度大，翻译稿费也相当低，常常听见译者感叹，如果不是兴趣，根本支撑不下去。在黄荭看来，翻译作品不算入科研成果是件很荒诞的事，

　　“如果外国文学翻译无以为继，如果没有保质保量的外国当代文学作品适时有序地补充到中国知识界的视野中，外国文学研究又将何去何从呢？中文系做外国文学研究的又该怎么办呢？”
　　“翻译不仅让我认识外面的世界，也让我认识自己。”黄荭是率真的性情中人，她喜欢将自己的翻译心得写下来，称之为翻译作品的副文本。《经过》、《闲来翻书》、《转身，相遇》这三本随笔集都是她翻译的衍生品。“阅读是呼吸，翻译则是如鱼饮水，知道冷暖。我饮了别人的文字，于是那文字便有了我的温度。”
