　　在赢得全场掌声后，尼克松接着借题发挥：“This is the hour，This is the day for our two people。(现在，就是我们两国人民只争朝夕的时候了)”，更为前句增色。而此时，是中美中断了20年的联系逐渐恢复正常的时候，两国渴望接触，这句诗词的恰当引用，准确地表达了他希望中美邦交正常化的迫切心情，赢得了满堂彩。
