马爱农：翻译

马爱农是中国著名的儿童文学翻译家，与其妹马爱新合作翻译了“哈利·波特”系列小说。还翻译了《绿山墙的安妮》《绿野仙踪》《船讯》《爱伦·坡短篇小说选》《汤姆的午夜花园》等。

如何踏入这一行？

“20世纪80年代，我还是一个英语系三年级的学生。一个很偶然的机会，一个朋友从日本带来一本英语小书《绿山墙的安妮》，据说这本书在日本深受欢迎。我一读就再也放不下来，一个强烈的念头占据了我的心：这么好的作品，为什么不翻译过来，让更多的中国读者看到呢？于是，那个暑假，我开始翻译这部作品，并由此开始了翻译–这个我愿意一生从事的工作。”

2 0 多年来，文学翻译给我带来无穷的快乐。

翻译文学作品，就像潜入作者内心，进入作者的思维轨迹和情感氛围，体会文学大师的精神活动，和他感受同样的喜怒哀乐。这种过程让我陶醉不已，这种欢愉，比阅读、欣赏电影和戏剧时更加强烈。自从翻译《绿山墙的安妮》以来，我深深迷恋上翻译的感觉，欲罢不能，一直没有停止过文学翻译的工作。后来接触了“哈利·波特”系列，这个系列小说的语言流畅易懂，比较有难度的是翻译那些魔法术语，它们很多是罗琳自创的词语，在字典里找不到，纯粹音译也不行。我们一般是根据文章内容来意译，充分发挥自己的想象，让脑海中逼真浮现准确的场景和画面，然后找到匹配的、够劲的词，比如“钻心咒”“倒挂金钟”都是根据魔法的效果来翻译的。

作为译者，在翻译的过程中享受到无尽的喜悦。

我可以遨游在作家用想象力构建的奇妙国度中，跟着主人公经历各种欢愉、忧愁、愤怒和恐惧。霍格沃茨神秘幽深的过道、小王子的那朵玫瑰花、《绿野仙踪》里的那条黄色小道……这些场景都曾无比清晰地出现在我的脑海里，我尽我所能将书里主人公的信息和情绪传递出来，让译文贴近原著。

一直以来，大多数人认为翻译的标准是“信、达、雅”。

但我觉得，一个“信”字足矣。不仅仅要忠实于原文，还要忠实于书中的情绪、风格、技艺、情境等诸多方面。翻译是一种创造，但也是有框架的，遣词造句、发挥想象的过程中，要尽可能与原文保持吻合，尽可能填满作者设定的框架，充分表达原作中的内容、情绪、氛围和意境。

翻译成人文学和翻译儿童文学时是不同的。

翻译爱伦·坡作品时的笔调肯定和翻译《绿山墙的安妮》不同。如果原文塑造的是一个大粗人，到了中文里却被翻译得温文尔雅，一嘴文绉绉的词，就没有做到“信”。如果翻译儿童文学作品时，通篇却是一股成人的腔调，不管翻译得多么优美，也没做到“信”。
