“地铁”英译到底叫什么？

 

有网友报料，在即将开通的地铁火车东站站，出入口上方有块标示牌，把地铁的英文翻译成Subway，而其他杭州地铁站点都翻译成Metro。网友提议，虽然两种翻译都是地铁的意思，但作为同一个城市，是不是应该统一一下为好呢？

昨天，记者发现，在火车东站站出入口的指示牌上，地铁确实翻译成Subway。而进去之后，大厅里的指示牌又变成Metro。

同样是地下铁，其实世界各地的叫法都不一样，Subway在美国
通常就指地铁，而英国人不大喜欢这么叫，因为Subway在英国是地下人行通道的意思，容易产生歧义，在英国，地铁通常被称为Underground，或简称为Tube。法国呢，通常用Metro。
听起来有些绕，但就像中国人称呼父亲一样，有的叫“爸”，有的叫“爹”，有的叫“大”，叫法不一样，意思都一样。

在国内已通地铁的几个城市采用的叫法也不尽相同，上海、广州、深圳、天津、西安采用Metro，而北京采用Subway。

其实，大家留意一下城市街头还可以发现，Metro和Subway这两个常用的地铁译称，读音还和两家商业机构“撞衫”了，Metro听起来像是大名鼎鼎的“麦德龙”，Subway读起来则像小有名气的“赛百味”。虽然怎么叫都不错，不过，大部分人还是比较倾向于一个观点：“不管用哪个，全城统一就行。”
