美国、英国、法国、德国、俄国、韩国、泰国、中国，这些国别名均以“国”为词尾，其由来如何？

中文中，以“国”为词尾的常用国名，X国，大概就以上列举的几个，别无他家，而恰与近代中国牵涉甚深。
不单语言方面，还想了解历史方面的“典故”（第一次这么称呼，出于何时、何处？）。其实，是考据活。
问题出发点，是对“中国”这一名称的探究。

主要是适应汉语双音化的趋势。
双音节词汇在现代汉语词汇中所占比例最高，人们也越来越习惯把复杂的词语或短语简缩为双音节的词语。
而在造词法中也有一种叫做“简缩造词”的方法，即对既有的超过两个音节的复音词或短语作音节上的简化，在结构上对既有的词语进行压缩。
生活当中的很多词都是这样演变而来的，包括语文（语言文学）、呼市（呼和浩特市）、钱江（钱塘江）、北大（北京大学）、节能（节约能源）等等。
而美国（美利坚合众国）、法国（法兰西共和国）、德国（德意志联邦共和国）、中国（中华人民共和国）等也同理。

关于简缩的原因：
词语简缩是应现代社会生活中信息传递“快速”、“经济”的要求而大量使用的，是现代汉语发展过程中的重要词汇想象。

P.S.关于“俄国”，这个表达其实是有歧义的。在较为准确的表达中，“俄国”专指沙皇俄国，而现在我们所说的“俄罗斯联邦”的简称应为“俄罗斯”。

但是德意志美利坚法兰西等可能是早期使用的时候简化的，如今3个字的国家已经不简化了。

一、起源上：

1.文化渊源角度：
X国的称呼代表了传统封建观念中的“国号”这一概念。这也解释了为何“x国”多为在明清就已经和我国接触的国家。而且，传统上的国号正是国名之简称，常为一字。又“其目的是与之前的政权做出区隔”这一点也大致适用。

2.语言角度：
汉语文的书写要求对仗、字数一致，文言如此，现代汉语仍有此痕迹。因此为了在签订条约时的符合文言书写规律，必定要把国名凑为二字、三字等各种形式以便对仗。
这种类似的现象，现在也能看到：比如称中国-印度关系与中国-印度尼西亚关系在新闻中为了简洁且与其它例子用法一致（中美、英法等）都会称作中-印关系。

二、发展上：

在前期发展过程中，我认为最重要的是易识别度
1.即各位所述的“二字四字读音更简洁”。
2.发音易识别。（？）
3.不与现有国名等混淆。

实际上大家如果看看辛丑条约的话，签字13国全部是以X国来写的。
除了美国、英国等大家较熟悉的之外，尚有义国、奥国、比国、葡国等较生疏之称呼。
