近期，平安保险和中国人保先后推出雾霾险（smog insurance），将风险赔付与空气污染指数（air pollution index）挂钩，而国内某旅游网站也与平安保险合作推出了旅游雾霾险（haze/smog travel insurance）。

这些险种的保费（premium）从十几元到几百元不等，理赔条件中均包括“所在地空气污染指数连续5天或7天在某个特定数值以上”这样的条款。保 监会方面认为，雾霾险与保险本质相悖。保险产品要满足两大原则，一是要有可保利益（insurable interest，投保人或被保险人对保险标的所拥有的某种合法的经济权力或利益），二是要符合大数法则（law of large numbers，相似个体所组成的大型群体的平均行为要比小型群体或群体中的个体行为更加容易预见，是近代保险业赖以建立的数理基础），而雾霾险两条都不 符合。
