英发现卜伽丘《名人鉴证》1400年法译本手稿

 

 
今年是中世纪意大利思想家、文艺复兴运动的杰出代表卜伽丘（Giovanni Boccaccio）诞辰700周年。英国曼彻斯特大学官网7月11日报道，该校意大利语高级讲师圭达·阿姆斯特朗（Guyda Armstrong）日前在该校图书馆发现了卜伽丘著作《名人鉴证》（De casibus virorum illustrium）的翻译手稿。

该手稿译本《名人鉴证》（Des cas des nobles hommes et femmes）诞生于1400年，由法国人文主义者劳伦特·德·佩米菲（Laurent de Premierfait）翻译而成。曼彻斯特大学约翰·赖兰德图书馆于1963年从一位巴黎书商手中购得此手稿。此后，该手稿一直藏于图书馆内，未引起学界关注。

阿姆斯特朗介绍称，《名人鉴证》是一部关于历史名人的传记集，其名字既可翻译成“名人的命运”，又可翻译成“名人的沉浮”。该著作开创了具有强烈道德教训意味的史传传统，通过叙述历史以启迪当时的统治者，达到批判暴政、以史为鉴的效果。

佩米菲分别于1400年和1409年两次翻译过《名人鉴证》。阿姆斯特朗表示，如今1409年的翻译版本更为流行，而本次确认的手稿是1400年的版本，1400年的版本仅有几份留存至今，弥足珍贵。

阿姆斯特朗计划对该手稿进行数字化处理，以供世界各地的读者欣赏。“在自己的专业研究领域发现此前未知的、未曾被研究过的手稿堪称每位研究者的梦想。该手稿不仅对卜伽丘的研究者来说具有重要意义，同时对研究中世纪翻译及文本文化的学者来说，也具有一定的学术价值。”
