康纳夫妇游西湖 研讨西湖外文翻译标准

昨天上午，西湖孤山放鹤亭，来了两位特殊的英国客人。

与一旁手持单反谈笑风生的外籍游客不同，这对年过半百的夫妻，注意力集中在亭前写有景点介绍的导览标识牌上。康纳夫妇将与包括浙江大学在内的6所高校的翻译专家一起，研讨西湖景区标识牌外文翻译标准。

研讨会为期一周，将涉及景点名的音译和意译、朝代及年号的翻译、西湖十景的翻译、背景知识的增减等。景区将根据专家意见和建议，对景区内各类标识牌的英文翻译进行“统一规范升级”。此外，景区计划制定一套认可度高、符合景区实际的标识牌翻译标准——《西湖景区导览标识手册》，作为今后标识牌外文翻译的权威依据。

早在上世纪八十年，康纳夫妇曾在浙江农业大学执教，从事历史、文化、地理等方面的教育及研究。两人对杭州和西湖充满了喜爱。尤其是康纳先生，曾用镜头记录下大量上世纪80年代老杭州的画面。

这次以专家身份来到西湖，不得不说是一种缘分。原来，两人回国后仍关注着这座城市的发展，他们专程委托在杭友人，向景区传达了关于标识牌外文翻译的建议与困惑。恰逢景区启动标识牌全面普查和外文翻译勘误工作，获悉两位学者的中肯建议，景区邀请这对夫妻档学者，以外国人的独特视角，为勘误工作“把脉问诊”。

一个上午下来，康纳夫妇先后来到岳庙、放鹤亭、中山公园、平湖秋月等景点。“这几处的标识牌外文翻译都没有问题，像我们这样的外国人看完之后，都能很好地了解这些景点的历史和故事。”

不过，康纳先生也提了一个建议：“以清代行宫遗址为例，我个人的意见是可以分三部分来标识景点：一行中文、一行拼音、一行英文解释。加上拼音，外国游客可以根据拼音的发音来问路，对方也容易理解。如果标识牌的内容有限，可以考虑标明中文名和拼音，再在括号内写明简单的标识牌外文翻译，比如说明这是宫殿、桥还是亭子。”

浙江大学翻译学研究所所长、教授、国家特级导游陈刚，是参与研讨的6位国内专家之一。陈教授从上世纪80年代中期就开始参与景区标识牌外文翻译工作，众所周知的西湖十景、新西湖十景等翻译，皆出自他的笔下。

陈教授对《西湖景区导览标识手册》给出了自己的建议：“对于灵活度不高、约定俗成的景点标识牌外文翻译，可以考虑统一翻译版本。不过从专业的旅游翻译角度来说，个别历史涵义、中文名称相对特殊的翻译，不妨在确保没有语法硬伤的情况下，保留几种不同翻译方式，以便进行多元化的文化交流。”

据悉，此次导览标识牌勘误的具体范围，包括景区各公园（景点）导游牌、指路牌、景点介绍牌、提示牌等；博物馆、纪念馆等外文标识（包括内部陈设）；公安（交警）、市政、公交等单位设置的公共信息标牌、路牌。
