为什么一些国外著名作家的书一翻译成中文的就那么晦涩难懂呢？

有些翻译的简直读不通（尤其是理论方面的书，例如 《乌合之众》，《通往奴役之路》，《致命的自负》等）

因为其本身也是不容易理解的。
比如刚看完一本社会学的书《房间里的大象》。这一本其实已经算浅显的了。里面的专业术语不算太多。但是原文和胡缠先生的译文感觉上去，还是需要认真读才可完全理解。

另外还有专业术语。翻译可以找相关字典对照翻译名词，但是有一些专业对于国内还是陌生的，或者没有完全引进，另外译者本身如果不是相关领域的人才翻译出来的作品也很有可能和原著有所偏差，进一步导致理解困难。

p.s.印象很深的是最初学做翻译的时候里面有一个fish welfare,我当初很难理解什么叫鱼业福利，各种查（自己本身不是水产专业），甚至以为这个词是不是那个大胡子教授写错了（这是一封信，要翻译好给院领导什么的看）……最后好不容易才查到在一个在线图书馆里面的书有一本就叫这个东西，而直接的翻译还真的就叫渔业福利呢~~

所以你看，如果遇到一个词都这么查下去，严谨性是有的，可是效率就太低了-。-

综上：
1、不是译文难以理解，而是如果没有专业背景的人去阅读，无论是原文还是译文，都是难以理解的
2、译者的专业相关知识，以及严谨程度

1.学术著作本来就很难懂，跟以何种语言无关；2.翻译并不能让著作更简单，能不给读者添麻烦就算不错了；3.很多在某个领域很牛逼的人并不会有空去给这个领域的著作做翻译，比如英国文学的学者根本不会去翻译英国文学作品，偶尔翻译一两部已经不错了，而真正搞翻译的不一定有深厚的专业背景。

一般而言，翻译除了要懂外文、懂中文、懂专业，还需要通过相当量的翻译练习打通两种语言，弄懂翻译本身。学术著作一般都不是专门做翻译的人翻译的。

个人感觉是一些很常见的名称比如perceive和recognize其实受过教育的老外（没受相关教育的可能也不会）会区分其区别，因为这是他们的母语，而对作为第二语言的学习者来讲，两者很难区别- 他们的中文意思都是“察觉”。
这是语言的精妙性（language subtlety，老外们能讲出几个我们字典上查到是近义词的区别及使用语境）就像我们的唐诗宋词一样。翻译时对于译者来讲兼顾这点一会还行，但长时间的工作会不可避免的带来翻译质量的下降。虽然我们这里讲专业术语，但专业的术语一要有平实的最常见的语言作支撑。

1、如果是相对专业一点的书，需要相对的专业基础知识。
2、翻译版本是不是符合读者的阅读习惯。
从译者角度来说：
1、对译著的专业领域是否有所了解，以及了解到什么程度。
2、译者的写作水平。
从文化背景来说：
不同地方的文化也不同，作者自身的经历和他的写作习惯（例如词和句子的使用）也不同，在两种语言没有对应的说法时，翻译也只能依靠译者自己对作品的理解，这些因素都会影响译著。
