西湖景点标识翻译统一规范 将在8月底发布

孤山下的放鹤亭，是西湖边的著名景点。这个名字如果翻译成英语，应该怎么说？

白堤往孤山下拐，标识牌上的放鹤亭，英语翻译是“Crane(鹤) Pavilion(亭子)”。等走到了放鹤亭里，标识牌上又变成了“Fang-he Pavilion”。

翻译不统一，是因为景区的翻译，有些是音译，也有些是意译。究竟怎么翻译，才最合适？

昨天，西湖风景名胜区管委会，从英国请回两位文字专家，来给景点的英文翻译出主意。他们上世纪80年代就在杭州教过书，对杭州的文化、地理都很了解。

英语翻译专家说，放鹤亭还是用音译的“Fang-he Pavilion”比较好，这样哪怕语言不通，外国游客问起路来，本地人也知道问的是哪里。而意译讲究的是语境相配，专家觉得可以放在景点介绍里。

最近，英国翻译专家将和浙江省内几位英语翻译协会会长、副会长等，一起开会讨论。预计月底前会制定一套《西湖景区导览标识手册》，作为今后景区导览标识牌英语翻译的权威依据。并且争取年底前在西湖景区换上统一的标识牌。
