“彩礼”用英文怎么说？

昨日，北京二中院通报，近三年，法院共审结101件涉及非婚赠与的民事案件，从2011年审结23件，到2013年审结46件，总体呈逐年上升趋势。法官提示公众，恋爱“豪赠”需要理智，以免昔日“感情债”变成今日的“金钱债”。

Under Chinese law, a present that is for an engagement or given as a bride price must be returned if the couple breaks up.

根据中国法律，订婚礼物或彩礼在男女分手后必须返还给对方。

“彩礼”也称“聘礼”，英文表达为bride price。按照习俗，男方给彩礼，女方出dowry（陪嫁，嫁妆）。根据相关司法解释的规定，如果男女双方未办理结婚登记手续，一方要求返还彩礼，人民 法院应予支持。所以，恋爱期间送的东西，只要是具有“彩礼”的性质，就应返还给对方。

但是事实上在对簿公堂时，很难分清所赠送的礼物是否“彩礼”，因为双方各执一词，又缺乏证据。对此法官建议恋爱中的人应该多些理智，在giving luxurious gifts（“豪赠”）之前要三思，最好能保留证据，以避免不必要的纷争。
