外媒报道谷歌已实施“登月计划”： 欲打造一款通用翻译工具

据德国《明镜周刊》报道，谷歌已实施了一个新的“登月计划”，目标是打造一款通用翻译工具，以消除不同语言之间的障碍。

据报道，“登月计划”是谷歌开展的一个超前产品开发项目。谷歌翻译团队对此雄心勃勃，希望能开发出一款基于语音的通用翻译系统，彻底消除语言障碍。虽然实现这种翻译梦想还有很长的路要走，但谷歌已经着手开发一款支持语音的智能手机翻译应用，迄今已可以翻译大概24种不同的语言。

谷歌翻译团队主管弗朗茨・约瑟夫・奥赫(Franz Josef Och)向《明镜周刊》坦言，目前这款基于语音的翻译应用运行速度缓慢，用起来也略显笨拙，但得益于基于文本的谷歌翻译工具在过去几年的不断改善，他预计这款应用也能以同样的速度向前发展。目前最大的障碍是，找到不同语言之间的细微差别，例如句法和歧义。

据《明镜周刊》报道，谷歌翻译方法最令人感兴趣的地方是，谷歌翻译团队里没有专门的语言学家，相反，根据设计，谷歌智能手机翻译应用会随着用户体验的不断改善而越变越好。由于谷歌擅长数据的收集、归类和分析，所以谷歌翻译应用的算法并不是用来理解语法规则的，而是“在信息片段中搜索、收集数据并不断学习。”

正因为如此，虽然谷歌翻译质量在过去几年取得了巨大改进，有些翻译过来的句子可以也容易理解，但还需要按照句法进行处理，这样才能说得通。不过，鉴于用户仅在去年一年时间里使用谷歌翻译工具的次数就超过2亿次，该公司应该会掌握所有的相关信息，用于不断完善这项服务。
