美国《时代》英语新闻翻译：中国新疆发生强地震；伤亡人数不明

(BEIJING)— The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-6.8 earthquake has rocked China’sfar western region of Xinjiang.

(北京)——据美国地质调查局，中国新疆偏远西部地区发生了6.8级地震。

It was not immediately clear if Wednesday’squake, centered in a remote area near the county of Keriya,known in Chinese as Yutian, caused any damage or casualties. The China Earthquake Networks Centermeasured the quake at magnitude 7.

地震发生于周三，地震震中位于于田县的偏远地区。目前尚不清楚地震造成的人员伤亡和破坏情况。中国地震台网中心测量到的地震震级为7级。

The director of the Yutian Civil AffairsBureau, Zhang Chong, said officials were stillgathering information. A police officer in Yutian said he felt tremors shakingthe police station and ran outside.

于田县民政局局长张崇（Zhang Chong）表示，行政人员仍在收集信息。于田县一名警察说，他在警局感受到震感后就跑到了外头。

USGS said the earthquake was centered 269kilometers (168 miles) east-southeast of Hotan at a depth of 12.5 kilometers(7.7 miles).

美国地质勘探局称，地震震中位于和田区东南方向269公里处（168英里），震源深度为12.5公里（7.7英里）。
