北京市政协发布了本市中小学生体质健康情况调研报告及建议案。报告显示，肥胖检出率持续增长，而视力不良检出率则居高不下。调研组建议，本市应将体育纳入高考科目。

Including a physical education test as part of the gaokao might encourage more schools to boost the time and quality of sports participation on campus while encouraging parents to replace various tutoring programs with physical exercises, a member of the Beijing CPPCC committee suggested.

一名政协委员建议，将体育考试纳入高考可能会鼓励更多学校提高校园里参与体育的时间和质量，同时又可以鼓励家长们用体育锻炼取代各种补习课。

上文中的physical education test就是“体育考试”，政协委员建议将体育考试纳入gaokao — the national college entrance exam（高考）当中。高考作为中国整个教育体系的baton（指挥棒），占据着核心地位。为了在高考中取得好成绩，许多学校的体育课都被辅导班和考试取 代，在重大考试前extracurricular sports activities（课外体育活动）也经常被取消。

除了学业上的压力，sports facilities（运动设施）和physical education faculty（体育教职工）的缺乏也是当前增加学生体育活动面临的障碍。一份报告建议政府和当地的教育机构应出资让学生使用学校附近的 commercial fitness centers（商业健身中心）。

调研中发现，中小学生普遍存在肥胖和视力差的问题，不少学生还患上了fatty liver（脂肪肝）和hypertension（高血压）等慢性病。卫生和计划生育委员会日前发布了一个针对学生的dietary guide（膳食指南），其中包括每日的合理进食量，以及balance out the calories they take in from different snacks（抵消他们从摄入的不同食物中所获取热量）所需的锻炼量。
