簡單來說，那些名字不用英語發音，舊、新約《聖經》分別是以希伯來文、希蠟文寫成（少部分書卷以其他閃族語寫成）。二本書完成時英語都還沒出現。

原文是מִיכָאֵל‎（[ˌmixäˈʔel]），「米迦勒」較接近這個發音。
