据国外媒体报道，美国动物行为专家科恩-斯罗伯德奇科夫教授表示手机大小的动物语言翻译机将在5到10年内成为现实。目前，斯罗伯德奇科夫教授正在研究一项新技术，用于翻译草原土拨鼠的叫声。他指出这项技术将最终用于翻译其他所有动物的语言，让人类与动物谈心不再是一个梦想。

在接受《大西洋月刊》采访时，斯罗伯德奇科夫表示他正在研发一种新型人工智能软件，用于记录草原土拨鼠的叫声，而后借助人工智能技术分析叫声并将它们翻译成英语。根据他的研究，土拨鼠向同伴发出的有关潜在危险的警告信息含有大量细节，甚至会具体到类似“一条瘦小的褐色草原狼正在快速接近”这样的细节。

过去30年时间里，这位教授一直在研究动物的行为。他指出：“我认为我们当前掌握的技术已经能够研制出这种装置。它们的体积可以小到只有手机大小，允许我们与宠物狗和宠物猫聊天。这种装置能够将狗狗的吠叫声或者猫叫声翻译成语言，例如‘我今天晚上想吃肉’或者‘你最近没有清理我的窝’这样的信息。”

根据斯罗伯德奇科夫的预测，科学家需要5到10年时间便可研制出动物语言翻译机。如果这项技术成为现实，将对人类的生活产生重大影响。他在解释这种影响时说：“在美国，40%的家庭至少养一条宠物狗，33%的家庭至少养一只宠物猫。由于行为问题，美国每年有多达400万条宠物狗被实施安乐死。对于宠物，我们面临的一个最大挑战就是无法与它们进行交流。人类听不懂动物的语言，动物也无法听懂人类的语言。如果我们能够与动物进行交流，我们就能避免很多问题。例如，狗狗会对我们说‘你吓到我了’，我们可以回答说‘对不起，我没意识到吓到你了。我会给你更多空间’。我希望借助这种装置让人类与动物之间形成真正的朋友关系，而不是利用动物。”

斯罗伯德奇科夫指出很多人害怕动物或者不愿意为动物做任何事情，因为在他们眼里，动物不会给他们的生活做出任何贡献。如果他们能够与动物进行真正的交流，他们便会意识到动物也和人类一样，是一个会呼吸和思考的生命，能够为人类做出很多贡献。
