为什么很多技术类英文网站的 API 都有日语版本？

印象中好像又很多技术网站都有日语版本，这个是官方提供的还是大和民族自己捐献的呢

我认为：
１.文档大部分来自于日本人自己翻译（很多时候是个人感兴趣，无私奉献），而不是美国或者其他国家，迫于日本国力或者为了讨好日本而去帮日本人民翻译；
２.中文的文档最近也渐渐多了起来，大部分也是中国的有识之士自发去翻译的，就很不错。比如说之前学javascript的时候，我就很喜欢http://bonsaiden.github.com/JavaScript-Garden/，上面就有不错的中文；
３.但是总体来看，必须承认中文文档在数量和质量上都比日本和台湾要低一些；这可能和中国人的习惯也有关。我发现大部分翻译出来的中文本，比原著差不少，而且里面看得出来作者对技术本身好像不太了解，只是专注于纯语言的翻译，而没有自己的理解在这里，所以很多时候照搬英文的逻辑和句式，反而让自己人读不懂。但是真正有技术同时英文很强的人，就直接看原著或者忙着做自己的事情，很少想到去高质量地翻译一些书籍。

多扯两句，或许比较沉重：
我读书的时候，第一个学期是在日本的神户– CMU日本校区。我在那里呆了４个月，自己亲身感受：日本的确是发达国家，人民生活富裕，衣食无忧，所以国民可以专注一下比较感兴趣但是不怎么赚钱的事情，比如买模型，画漫画，参加遥控车大赛，玩极限特技自行车等等（每周在我们校区的大楼里都有类似的活动）。对计算机技术感兴趣的人也大有人在，他们中的很多人于是开始钻研和参与到一些开源项目，然后相应地翻译项目的技术文档，同时分享给所有人。国内的话，能活得安稳，混得好就不错了，而且很多时候还要在职位和待遇上面去攀比，就算自己懒得去比，你旁边的人会拿你去比，你女朋友会在意，你父母和亲戚也会看你是不是有出息等等。那么最后就没几个人去做这种无偿翻译的闲事。有时间的话，谁不想去在工作上好好表现，多取得成绩，多拿奖金，早日升职等等。你不赚钱，怎么有房子，没有房子怎么抬起头，怎么去结婚，怎么去拥有一个长期美满的婚姻和家庭。最后没有个美满的家庭，哪来好的事业呢？

原因並不是孤立的。日本一向重視內化外來文化。這並不是什麼「師夷長技以制夷」，而是說別人的東西好，我喜歡，然後我也要像別人一樣好。

中國感覺是別人的東西好，我內心其實也喜歡，但我懶得去變得跟你一樣好，我們是大國。

如果喜歡自己的文化，那麼希望自己的文化變得更好應該是自然而然的。說實話現在那麼多英文詞在中文沒有合適的對應，大家不覺得不爽嗎？我覺得很不爽。總得努力找一個出來才行。「你自己會說，別人聽得懂就好。」「不妨礙溝通就行。」這標準未免低了點。「語言是不斷演化的。」沒錯，但日本人把英文大量片假名化，用那種外人聽了要起雞皮的方法去讀，這叫演化。僅僅是在「想不出這個詞中文該怎麼說」的時候就偷懶直接說出「Over the course 去 develop 一 D 野」這樣的句子，這不叫演化。

我讲一下我在日本留学的学长和我说的情况吧。

大家可能难以想象，日本的诺贝尔物理学奖获得者甚至都可以不懂英语。因为在日本，搞科研的人里，有专门的团队就是负责将国外先进的论文完全翻译成日文。

这是一件非常可怕的事情。
在中国，你搞科研，混充论文数量，混顶级刊物论文数量。但其实回过头来想想，所谓的顶级刊物的贡献，都是给英文国家的人看的，所以你的科研成果完全是贡献给国外的人的。
而中文刊物又tmd完全没有公信力和价值。在这样的大环境下，如何谈科教兴国，科技兴国呢？所有最优秀的科研成果，竟然无法在国内存根备份，成为国家发展最重要的基石。以此来看我们到底离发达国家还有多少距离？我们的发展速度究竟是如何的？

退几百步来说，我们和我们的邻居差的到底有多远？

原因很简单。因为日本作为科技国，其技术成果和相关人员都很多。当然日语版的文档就多。

我们所能接触的大多数科技类文献都是英文的，一直遗憾与没有学习日语，没有途径接触日本的资料，其实鬼子在很多领域还是很先进的。

并不奇怪。日本是第二大经济体，而且市场规范，往往是这些企业在欧美之外技术授权等方面最重要的收入区域。Java是一个很好的例子。
