北京时间2月13日晚，四名选手参加的冬奥会短道速滑女子500米决赛上，其他三名选手均在比赛中摔倒，中国选手李坚柔戏剧性地完成比赛夺得冠军，为中国代表团迎来索契冬奥会的首枚金牌。

Although it was considered good luck for China’s Li Jianrou, a middle and long distance specialist, to take the gold medal in the women’s 500m short track speed skating at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, the 27-year-old said such miracles only happen for people who work hard.

尽管很多人认为中国队的中长距离选手李坚柔摘得索契冬奥会女子500米短道速滑金牌靠的是运气，但27岁的李坚柔表示没有努力就没有奇迹。

李坚柔的戏剧化胜出，使得short track speed skating（短道速滑）这一比赛项目一时间为众人所熟知。李坚柔是一名middle and long distance racer（中长距离选手）。她在获胜后说道there would be no miracle without hard work（没有努力就没有奇迹）。

也是在昨天晚上，首次参加冬奥会的张虹以出色的发挥夺得了women’s 1,000m speed skating（速滑女子1000米）决赛的金牌。速滑全称速度滑冰，即speed skating，张虹为中国队摘得了冬奥会历史上的第一块速滑金牌，这也是她在low-altitude track（平原场地）滑出的最好成绩
