为什么斯蒂夫乔布斯传简体中文译版少了几章？

簡體中文版的內容並沒有少，而是英文版的第二十和第二十一章在中文版被合併了。英文版第二十章叫 A Regular Guy，對應的中文版章節數是二十，標題為「凡人」，英文版第二十一章叫 Family Man，在中文版被合併到了第二十章「凡人」當中，中文版第二十一章就是「玩具總動員」——英文版的第二十二章。

由於做唐茶版的緣故，我提前從中信獲得了英文版權方發來的打印稿。在那份稿裡，A Regular Guy 和 Family Man 這兩章的內容是合併在一起的。換言之，英文版應該是在最後時刻決定拆分這兩章，然後未能及時通知中信（或是覺得區別不大，沒必要通知），所以中信最後就按原本的章節安排出版了。

解释两个大家关心的问题。

1. 美国出版方在最后一分钟修改中说明（there was a last minute editorial decision made by the author to split Chapter 20 into two chapters in the US edition），但要求所有美国以外的出版商不得将原 20 章拆分（HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. In the foreign editions, it was decided that Chapter 20 should NOT be split – that it should remain one chapter as in the final version sent to you for translation）。也就是大家看到的，全世界只有美国的英文版是 42 章（仅仅是把原来 20 章拆成两章，并没有内容变化），而全球其他版本包括繁体中文版（台湾地区的，大家有的话可以证实）都是 41 章。

2. 作者前言里，作者临时增加的一小段文字（ He didn’t seek any control over what I wrote, or even ask to read it in advance. His only involvement came when my publisher was choosing the cover art. When he saw an early version of a proposed cover treatment, he disliked it so much that he asked to have input in designing a new version. I was both amused and willing, so I readily assented. ）并不是中文版漏译或者版本旧，而是全球其他语种的出版社都没有获得美国方面的作者的「最后一分钟修改」的授权修改，我们必须遵照著作权人和其代理人的要求，严格按照著作权人给予我们的最终用于翻译版的版本来翻译出版，这一点大家可以参考台湾版《贾伯斯传》中也和简体版同样没有这一小段来证实。

中文只是章节变化了。20+21合并为20.中文目录不用全的，不知道是不是也是版权方的要求。中文的很多目录太短，莫名的很。

订了美国版还没拿到，Kindle上在21章，Lisa Moves In 这一节前面，关于克林顿和莱温斯基的一小段，用括号加进去的，乔布斯和克林顿打电话的一个细节，不知道美国版印刷版加进去了没有。挺好玩的。
